Unexpected Lines

Numer:
849

About 1700 years ago, a Greek called Pappus discovered an amazing arrangement of lines. Nothing happened for the next 1300 years until the sixteen year old Blaise Pascal discovered an even more amazing arrangement! Everyone thought his dad had found it. But no, it was young Blaise who went on to invent all sorts of things. In this session, we'll learn about what these guys found and more besides. There are always new things to find.

This will be a lecture for students (age 14-16) about geometry. I will be talking about viewpoints on geometry, and there will be some activity as well. In particular, the students are supposed to draw some of the Theorems in groups on blackboards.
