Love Bonding in the Era of Artificial Intelligence
“Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Did you know that falling in love takes one-fifth of a second or that sexual desire is more than just a basic thrive? That kissing has an immense impact on the quality of a love bond? That facial similarity between people in love increases over time? Or that it’s the little things that make the biggest difference?
But love can be still so much more. As thinking machines become increasingly part of our lives, we are also transforming definitions of what it means to be conscious, what it means to live, to die, and ultimately, what it means to love a non-human being. Advancements in deep learning allow artificial neural networks to continually train themselves and improve their skills without human intervention. They have already allowed computers to rival humans in pattern recognition, natural language and various emotional enactments. Can they also make them love?
This workshop is directed at anyone interested in the subject of love through the lens of process-oriented psychology. The workshop introduces basic techniques of how to understand and speak about love, such as a dreaming process, a method which seeks integration of conscious and subconscious desires, and creates opportunities for a conscious awareness of integrating both as a purposeful direction of a psychic transformation.
