Science in ancient Egypt?
Numer:
114
This presentation will take a brief look at the different forms of arts and crafts practiced in ancient Egypt that could be qualified as 'science' in our modern terms. Here one could think of mathematics, geometry, architecture, medicine and more. But most importantly the goal of this presentation would also be to ask questions about what counted as 'scientific' in ancient Egypt for the Egyptians themselves. As the emic view unfolds during this presentation topics such as writing, magic, astronomy, astrology and other potential themes will be discussed shortly to give a glance on an alternative understanding on the notion of science.
